Among the Living Stones depicts a lampstand of unity standing firm upon the foundation stone of emuwnah (אֱמוּנָה)—faith, firmness, steadfastness. The lampstand by no means stands alone; surrounding it are the living stones of God’s spiritual house, those who relentlessly seek and have obtained a life-giving flow from the depths of His heart. Above reflects the song and the tone of heaven at this hour—the dawning light of Messiah’s coming and an open, fresh flow of living water that proceeds from the throne of God.
From top to bottom, Among the Living Stones speaks of Emmanuel—God with us. It is the Spirit of Messiah who knits His own together into a dwelling place for the Most High. Messiah is our keeping power, the source of our life, light, and strength. Apart from Him we can do nothing.
“And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.” —Exodus 17:11,12
“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” —1 Peter 2:4,5
