Wind of Freedom, Wind of the Spirit

When you’ve been cooped up all winter, opening the window to a warm spring day can be invigorating. A warm breeze may blow through and stir up your inner man. Energy flows into your being as if by some unseen force, often spurring those classic bouts of spring cleaning. This is a beautiful picture for how the LORD works in our lives too. Like the exciting scent of a spring breeze, the Spirit of the LORD carries the fragrance of freedom wherever He goes.

This past April, while listening to the live stream for a church I followed online, worship overwhelmed me and the LORD impressed a vision upon me: a warm breeze blowing in through the open window carrying with it the fragrance of the Holy Spirit. “Where the Spirit of the LORD is there is liberty,” He reminded me. As often happened while worshipping along with my then online church, I saw this word picture for the vision the LORD had impressed upon me and immediately began to draw it. The next song the worship team began to sing was “Freedom Reigns” by Jesus Culture!

Ruach HaKodesh—The Holy Spirit or Set-Apart Spirit of God. In Hebrew, ruach means “spirit, wind.”

While this became another Rhema Art sketch, it also became a picture of what the LORD was about to do in my life. In just over a month, He swept through my life with a sweet fragrance. He inspired and assisted me in a little spring cleaning—physically and spiritually. And on May 31, He moved me to the state where my online church was located. I was pleasantly surprised when leaving New England required I leave via Newark Liberty Airport, instead of JFK or LaGuardia. The LORD loves dropping little hints at me everywhere He can!

The wind of the Spirit certainly blows where it wishes (John3:8). I wouldn’t have it any other way, for having the fragrance of my God in my life invigorates me each day, frees me from old mindsets, and empowers me to live a set-apart life pleasing to Him.
